Every year, Cox Enterprises delivers an enterprise-wide Code of Conduct program that reinforces the company's ethical standards, workplace expectations, and shared values.
For the 2026 edition, I collaborated with a multidisciplinary team of six instructional designers, developers, and creative professionals to modernize the learning experience. The course introduced new topics such as responsible AI, workplace safety, ethics, and decision-making while supporting employees in English, Spanish, and French.
My primary responsibility was designing and developing the Vault portion of the course, an interactive experience that challenged learners to apply what they had learned through engaging activities and scenarios. I also contributed to the overall learning concept and storyline that shaped the course narrative from beginning to end.
Annual compliance courses often struggle to keep learners engaged because they're viewed as mandatory policy reviews rather than meaningful learning experiences.
Our team's challenge was to transform the Code of Conduct into an experience that encouraged employees to think critically about ethical decisions instead of simply acknowledging company policies.
The solution also needed to:
- Support a global workforce
- Introduce new AI governance standards
- Remain consistent across multiple learning modules
- Support English, Spanish, and French
- Deliver an engaging experience despite the large amount of required compliance content
Working with a team of six also introduced its own creative challenge. Each designer came to the project with a distinct vision for how the course should look and feel. Early in the process, reaching a shared creative direction required significant communication and compromise. Competing ideas about visual style, interaction patterns, and narrative approach had to be reconciled before development could move forward.
Aligning six designers around a single cohesive vision while respecting individual contributions was one of the most demanding aspects of the project, and ultimately one of its most valuable lessons.
This project was developed collaboratively by a team of six. My primary contributions included:
- Co-developing the overall learning concept and storyline
- Helping shape the script and narrative flow
- Designing and developing the interactive Vault experience
- Building Storyline interactions
- Creating learner feedback and knowledge checks
- Collaborating with teammates to ensure a consistent learner experience across the full course
Rather than treating compliance as a collection of policy documents, our team designed a story-driven experience that encouraged learners to actively participate.
Each section combined multimedia, scenarios, and interactive exercises that reinforced real-world decision-making. As learners progressed through the course, they eventually entered the Vault, where they applied their knowledge through interactive challenges designed to reinforce key concepts before completing the training.
This structure helped transform the course from passive content consumption into active learning.
The Vault served as the culminating experience within the course. My goal was to create an environment where learners could demonstrate what they had learned instead of simply recalling information.
To accomplish this, I designed interactive activities that required learners to evaluate situations, make decisions, and receive immediate coaching through Storyline feedback layers. Interaction types included:
- Scenario-based challenges
- Knowledge checks
- True/False interactions
- Slider interactions
- Immediate feedback
- Progressive content reveals
These activities reinforced topics such as responsible AI, workplace ethics, company procedures, and compliance expectations while giving learners an opportunity to apply their knowledge in context.
In addition to development work, I collaborated with the team to help establish the overall storyline for the course. Rather than presenting policies as isolated topics, we created a narrative structure that connected multiple compliance themes into one cohesive learning experience.
This approach helped:
- Increase learner engagement
- Create smoother transitions between topics
- Reinforce key messages throughout the course
- Provide context for interactive activities
- Make complex compliance topics easier to understand
The completed course supported employees across multiple regions by providing localized versions in:
- English
- Spanish
- French
Although my primary focus remained on the Vault experience, collaboration with the broader team ensured that interactions, feedback, and learning objectives remained consistent across every language version.
The completed Code of Conduct course became Cox Enterprises' 2026 enterprise-wide compliance training, delivering a modern, interactive learning experience to employees across multiple business units and languages.
Working as part of a six-person team, I helped shape the overall learning narrative while designing and developing the interactive Vault experience that reinforced critical compliance concepts through learner participation rather than passive reading.
The finished course successfully blended storytelling, multimedia, scenarios, and interactive assessments into a scalable compliance solution that supported ethical decision-making across the organization.
Protecting Client Confidentiality
Throughout my career, I’ve partnered with organizations across healthcare, financial services, technology, and telecommunications to design learning experiences, digital products, and communication campaigns.
Because much of this work contains proprietary information, internal processes, or confidential business content, the portfolio examples presented here have been selectively edited. Rather than displaying complete courses or full project deliverables, I’ve included representative sections that demonstrate my design thinking, creative approach, and technical execution while honoring the confidentiality and trust of the organizations I’ve worked with.
Protecting client information is just as important as showcasing my work.
This project reinforced the value of collaboration on large-scale enterprise learning initiatives.
Working alongside five other designers allowed us to divide ownership while maintaining a consistent learner experience across more than a hundred Storyline screens. My contributions to both the course narrative and the Vault experience demonstrated how instructional design extends beyond screen development, requiring thoughtful storytelling, collaboration, and interaction design to create learning that employees genuinely engage with.
It also strengthened my ability to contribute to complex compliance initiatives where multiple stakeholders, emerging topics like responsible AI, and multilingual delivery all needed to come together in one cohesive learning experience.
